Why doesn't ChatGPT find me at all?

The short answerMany AI tools read only the plain text of a page, before any code runs. If your site builds itself in the visitor's browser, those tools may see an almost empty page.

1See it

One website, three readers

Picture: the same made-up homepage three ways. A person sees everything. Google misses the words printed on the photo. ChatGPT sees only the name and the menu.

2Why it happens

Three reasons

  1. Your site builds itself in the browser. Some sites send a nearly blank page and add the words afterward with code. People never notice, but many AI tools never see the words.
  2. Your site may be blocking AI tools. A setting on your site, or in a security service in front of it, can turn AI tools away without you knowing.
  3. There's little about you elsewhere. AI tools also rely on other websites. A business with few listings, reviews or mentions is easy to miss.

3What to do

Check it in two minutes

Ask ChatGPT "What do you know about [your business name] in [your town]?" Then run the free check below.

Then see whether AI tools can read your homepage:
